Best AI answering services for HVAC companies in 2026

A fair roundup of AI answering services for HVAC shops, with published pricing, integrations, and who each one actually fits. Contour included, not first.

Contour team · October 15, 2026 · 9 min read

We build one of the products on this list, so read it with that in mind. We have tried to write the roundup we wished existed: who each tool is for, what it integrates with, and what it costs when the vendor publishes a price. Where pricing is not published we say so and note what third parties have reported.

Everything here was checked in October 2026. Pricing and features change; confirm with the vendor before you sign.

What an HVAC shop actually needs from a phone answer

A quick frame first. HVAC calls are different from a dentist's office, and a lot of "AI receptionist" products were built for the dentist.

An HVAC shop needs the phone answer to do five things:

  1. Pick up every time, including 11 PM in January and Sunday afternoon in July, which is exactly when a general receptionist product is most likely to be tested.
  2. Triage. "No heat" when it is 18°F outside is an emergency. "My AC is making a noise" in October is a next-available appointment. A furnace that smells like gas is a transfer to a human, every time. The tool needs to know the difference.
  3. Confirm the address is in your service area before promising anything.
  4. Book into your software, not just take a message. For most shops over three trucks that means ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, or FieldEdge. For smaller shops it often means Google Calendar.
  5. Tell you what happened, fast, with a recording you can check.

Hold each product against that list.

The front-office platforms

These three are built for shops with a CSR team and sell more than call answering.

Avoca

Best for: HVAC companies doing $3M or more with a real CSR team.

Avoca calls itself an "AI front office," and that is accurate. It answers inbound calls with trade-specific triage, but the bigger story is everything around the call: outbound campaigns, web chat, and coaching tools that score your human CSRs on their calls. It has a certified ServiceTitan integration and also connects to Housecall Pro and FieldRoutes.

Avoca does not publish pricing; third-party estimates put it at roughly $1,000 per month and up. For a shop with five or more CSRs that wants to improve the whole front office, that can be reasonable. For a two-truck shop that needs the after-hours line answered, it is more product than you need.

Broccoli

Best for: Multi-location operators and private-equity roll-ups.

Broccoli sells a roster of named AI agents rather than a single receptionist: an inbound CSR agent, an outbound sales and membership agent, a speed-to-lead agent that calls web leads back, and a QA agent that grades your human CSRs. Integrations include ServiceTitan, Salesforce, AccuLynx, and Housecall Pro, plus lead sources like Google Local Services Ads, Yelp, and Angi.

Pricing is not published. Reported figures are around $950 per month for roughly 1,000 minutes. Broccoli's customer list skews toward enterprise and PE-backed groups, and the product is built for that scale. If you have one location and one phone line, you are not the target customer.

Sameday

Best for: Mid-size HVAC shops that want an AI front office with published, mid-range pricing.

Sameday is the most transparent of the enterprise-leaning options. Published plans run from $449 per month (around 500 minutes) to $789 per month, plus enterprise. It ships its own phone system, so you move your line onto Sameday rather than forwarding to it. Integrations are the broadest on this list: ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, FieldRoutes, AccuLynx, JobNimbus, and Service Fusion. It also offers campaigns and CSR coaching.

Sameday claims 4 million-plus calls answered and a 92% booking rate. Those are the company's own figures; treat them as marketing claims rather than audited numbers.

If you run Housecall Pro or Service Fusion and want an AI answer with real HVAC triage, Sameday is likely your best fit on this list. Contour does not integrate with those platforms yet.

Trade-specific dispatchers

Contour

Best for: Owner-operated HVAC shops on ServiceTitan or Google Calendar that want a dispatcher, not a front office.

Contour is our product. It is narrower than Avoca, Broccoli, or Sameday on purpose. It answers on your existing number (you forward all calls, after-hours only, or only when nobody picks up within about four rings). It triages like a dispatcher: it asks what is happening, where, and how bad, and it uses weather thresholds you set, so no-heat at 18°F gets an urgent slot and an AC noise in October gets next-available. It confirms the address is in your service area before booking. Gas smell transfers to you, always, if you set that rule.

It books into ServiceTitan (customer, location, job on the right business unit, priority, call summary in notes) or Google Calendar. Those are the only two integrations today. There is no Housecall Pro, Jobber, or FieldEdge connection yet, no outbound calling, and no web chat. If you need any of those, pick something else from this list.

After each call it texts you or the on-call tech within about a minute: name, address, issue, urgency, booked time, and a link to the recording. Urgent calls say URGENT first. Every call is recorded with the required consent notice, transcribed, and summarized. It never guesses at pricing and says only what you approved.

Setup is the same afternoon. You provide services, service area, hours, and booking rules; Contour reads your website for the rest. Pricing is a flat monthly plan by answered calls, month to month, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Current plans are on the pricing page.

ServiceTitan's own AI voice agent

Best for: ServiceTitan customers who want to stay inside one vendor.

ServiceTitan sells its own AI voice agent to existing customers. Reported pricing is from about $2.75 per call. The advantage is that it is native: no integration to maintain, and the booking lands where ServiceTitan expects it.

The things to check: how it handles triage for your specific trade, how much you can customize what it says, and what per-call pricing adds up to at your volume. At 200 answered calls a month, $2.75 per call is about $550. At 400 calls it is about $1,100. Compare that to the flat-rate options above at your actual call count.

General receptionists and human services

Rosie

Best for: A very small HVAC shop that mostly needs messages taken and has a tight budget.

Rosie is a general small-business AI receptionist. It is not built for the trades, and it shows: there is no HVAC-specific triage, no concept of weather-based urgency, and no ServiceTitan integration. What it does have is published, low pricing ($49, $149, and $299 per month by minutes), a free trial, Google Calendar booking on the higher plans, Zapier, and website chat.

If you are a one-person shop with no FSM whose main problem is calls going to voicemail while you are on a roof, Rosie is a legitimate budget option. You will do the triage yourself when you read the message.

Goodcall

Best for: Same profile as Rosie, with more emphasis on call analytics.

Goodcall is another general-purpose AI receptionist from around $49 per month, with call analytics as its selling point. Same caveats as Rosie: not trade-specific, no triage, no ServiceTitan.

Human answering services

Best for: Shops that want a person on the line and are fine with messages instead of bookings.

A traditional answering service puts a human operator on your line 24/7. Pricing is typically $1 to $2 per minute or in minute bundles. The upside is a real voice and judgment on an unusual call. The downsides are structural: most services take a message rather than booking into your software, operators are not HVAC dispatchers and treat "no heat" and "schedule a tune-up" about the same, and during a cold snap, when every shop in your region is slammed at once, callers sit in a hold queue.

We cover this comparison in depth in AI receptionist vs. human answering service for the trades.

How to choose

Work through these in order.

What software do you book into? This eliminates most of the list. ServiceTitan: Avoca, Broccoli, Sameday, Contour, or ServiceTitan's own agent. Housecall Pro: Avoca, Broccoli, or Sameday. Service Fusion, JobNimbus, FieldRoutes: Sameday. Google Calendar or nothing: Contour or Rosie.

How big are you? Over $3M with a CSR team you want to coach and run outbound campaigns from: Avoca or Broccoli. Mid-size and want an all-in-one front office: Sameday. Owner-operated and want the phone answered and jobs booked without buying a front office: Contour. Solo and budget-constrained: Rosie or Goodcall.

Do you want to keep your number and phone system? Sameday supplies its own phone system. Contour, Rosie, and most others work by forwarding your existing line. Our guide to forwarding your business line covers how forwarding works in general.

How do you want to pay? Per minute (Sameday, Rosie, human services), per call (ServiceTitan's agent), or flat monthly by answered calls (Contour). Run each against your actual call volume. A per-minute plan is cheap when calls are short and expensive when a confused caller takes eight minutes to find their thermostat.

Can you leave? Ask every vendor about month-to-month terms and a money-back window before you sign.

Run the missed-call math first in the ROI calculator so you know what you are solving for, then pick the tool that fits your software and size. For how Contour handles HVAC calls specifically, see the HVAC page.
